TT Isle of Man - The most dangerous race

“This is amazing, and also insane. These guys are crazy! They’re flirting with disaster at really high speeds right next to the wall. One slip and they’re done for.”

This is what Indianapolis 500 drivers feel about riders at the Isle of Man TT.

The Isle of Man TT is a series of motorcycle races held on the Isle of Man off the coast of England. It is the oldest race of them all, dating back to 1907.

The island is a mere 221 square miles big, yet is home to the 37.73 mile Snaefell Mountain Course: The racetrack where the Isle of Man TT takes place.

The course is run on public roads which are closed when the riders take to the track. The Isle of Man TT takes place over two weeks, with the first week being reserved for practice and qualifying and the second week being reserved for racing.

The races are run in time trial format, with the No. 1 qualifier leaving the line 10 seconds before the No. 2 qualifier who leaves 10 seconds before the No. 3 qualifier and so on. The categories are Superbike, Sidecar, Supersport, Superstock, Lightweight, TT Zero (electric motorcycles) and - the most prestigious of all - the Senior TT.
